Driving

Chattanooga is nestled in the southeast corner of Tennessee along the Georgia border. The region is situated at the intersection of three major interstate highways, I-24, I-75, and I-59.

Walking

Chattanooga is an extremely easy city for those who like to walk from place to place downtown. In addition to clean wide sidewalks and great directional signage, Chattanooga boasts a 13-mile Tennessee River Walk for a nice stroll and the convenient Walnut Street Bridge, which provides pedestrians safe and scenic access between downtown and the Northshore. Plus, visitors and locals alike can easily venture to most businesses, restaurants, attractions and UTC – within 15 minutes of just about anywhere downtown.

Wayfinding

Because we host millions of tourists each year, Chattanooga features convenient wayfinding signs posted on street lamp posts. Their purple and green backgrounds are easy to distinguish from normal traffic signs and should point you in the direction of most of the city's popular attractions. Some even feature information kiosks.

Buses & Shuttles

The city is served by the Chattanooga Area Regional Transportation Authority (CARTA). CARTA operates 17 bus routes, including Free Electric Shuttles in the downtown area which run continually until 11pm along Broad Street from the Chattanooga Choo-Choo on the Southside to Coolidge and Renaissance Parks and the trendy Frazier Avenue shopping area on the NorthShore. Some shuttles include free Wi-Fi. You can park and ride CARTA’s Free Electric Shuttles in parking garages on Frazier Avenue on the Northshore, the Chattanooga Choo Choo on the Southside or at The Block on the Riverfront. Parking fees apply.

The Downtown Electric Shuttle is an easy way to get around Downtown Chattanooga and - it's a FREE! Electric shuttles run daily* about every 5 minutes from the Chattanooga Choo Choo to the Tennessee Aquarium with stops every block in between. All shuttles are wheelchair accessible.

• Monday through Friday - 6:30 a.m. until 11:00 p.m.

• Saturdays - 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 p.m.

• Sundays - 9:30 a.m. until 8:30 p.m.

• North Shore Shuttle buses run about every 15 minutes -
  Monday through Saturday 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.

Bike Share & Scooters

Bikes:

The City of Chattanooga’s Bike Chattanooga Bicycle Transit System offers a convenient and healthy way for residents and visitors to travel around downtown Chattanooga. The membership driven system features 33 stations and 300 bicycles, available to members 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Annual memberships cost $50 per year or $8 for a 24 hour pass. You can take unlimited rides of one hour or less at no additional charge. There is also a 3 day pass available.
