The Block (formerly The Bijou Theatre)

The former Bijou Theater at 215 Broad Street occupies the ground floor of the CARTA parking garage on the block at the corner of Broad and Third Streets. This space was home to one of the first multi-screen movie theaters in the heart of downtown Chattanooga. At its peak, the Bijou was an anchor tenant that helped spur much of the growth downtown.

With the rebranding of this 25,000 square foot space as The Block, Rock/Creek, an outdoor outfitter, will be occupying 3,800 square feet while High Point Climbing and Fitness, a state-of-the-art climbing and bouldering gym, will be occupying over 16,000 square feet. In addition to inside climbing, High Point will offer an exterior climbing wall anchored to the facade of the building which will also serve as an iconic piece of public art. Coming mid-2014, Chattz Coffee will be occupying an 1,800 square feet space on Broad Street.

Projected traffic is expected to exceed 250,000 people annually. There is currently one additional space of 3,000 square feet available at The Block and is a prime spot for a new retail business. Contact Jim Williamson for more information at 423-265-3700 or
