Meet Our Retail Recruiter-Blair Waddell

Blair, a native Chattanoogan, focuses on filling in downtown’s missing gaps with quality retailers that will add to the vibrancy of the city. Working as a match-maker of sorts, she cultivates relationships with area brokers, realtors, land owners, and potential retailers in order to aid downtown development and has been very successful in recruiting retailers to City Center.

One endeavor Blair is extremely honored to have been a part of was our retail incubator on Chestnut Street, Project: PopUp. Working in conjunction with Berry & Hunt and Chambliss, Bahner & Stophel to create Project: PopUp in 2012, she saw entrepreneurs given a chance to test out their concepts downtown and see if life as a retailer was one that they would like to continue. Blair also saw a noticeable increase in new businesses and established retail businesses interested in moving to this area of downtown.

In ten years, Blair hopes downtown is full of new restaurants and retail shops, both national and independent brands. She wants to walk on Market Street starting at Main Street and ending on Frazier Avenue popping in and out of a variety of retail stores while seeing more people living downtown and enjoying it from morning till night.

Personally, Blair is in the middle of planning the biggest day of her life-her wedding to fiancé Brad Mard. Being from Memphis, Brad has decided not only to fall in love with her but also this city.

Some fun facts about Blair are she spent ten days backpacking through Colorado learning to survive with only what she could carry, loves Crossfit, runs the bridges, and one summer she clogged at Dollywood with Dolly Parton. She accredits this experience as her big break in life.
