Opened in July 1999, Coolidge Park is a 10-acre public park on the north shore of the Tennessee River in downtown Chattanooga.  The new park includes a riverside stage, a restored historic carousel, an interactive water feature, a multi-purpose pavilion, a canoe/kayak launch, a floating restaurant and tour boat and curving walkways, green meadows and river overlooks.

The park nestles below the 112-year old Walnut Street (pedestrian) Bridge.  The park is named in honor of World War II Medal of Honor recipient Charles Coolidge.  On a typical day, children get soaked in the fountain, youth (of all ages) ride the historic carousel, families gather for picnics, lovers stroll along the river, competitors climb the climbing wall, and people of all ethnic groups, ages and incomes assemble to enjoy each other, celebrate, relax and reflect.

Coolidge Park has quickly become a local and regional favorite, cherished by locals and visitors of all ages, genders and backgrounds.  More than 30 new restaurants and shops have opened nearby due to the quality urban design and overall community appeal of this new community asset.
