After more than ten years of planning, the Little Theatre of Chattanooga renovated its 35-year old riverfront space into the 45,000 square foot Chattanooga Theatre Centre.
The Chattanooga Theatre Centre is one of the longest continuously performing amateur theater companies in the nation.
The project involved demolition of 15,000 square feet of existing lobby and office space, as well as an adjacent abandoned manufacturing plant; full renovation of two performance spaces – including new interiors, seating, lighting, and sound equipment – and construction of 30,000 square feet of office, rehearsal, classroom, shop and theatrical support space. A large parking lot and extensive new landscaping were also added. The building cost ($5.5M) was privately funded. The new area streetscape, road connections and other improvements ($3M) came via public sources.
