Dedicated in 1924 as a memorial to Hamilton County veterans who lost their lives in World War I, the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Auditorium was designed by noted Chattanooga architect R. H. Hunt and originally built by Parks and Company. It has hosted such greats as Bob Hope, Frank Sinatra and Duke Ellington. The Auditorium closed in 1989 for renovation.

In 1991 the Memorial Auditorium reopened as a world-class performing arts venue with a mid-sized seating capacity of 3,866 making it an excellent choice for Broadway tours and larger concerts.
