Currently in the design phase, construction is scheduled to begin in summer 2002 to provide streetscape and roadway improvements to three key blocks of the Central Business District on Market Street between 6th and M. L. King Boulevard. The project will include the return of on-street parking spaces, new pedestrian lighting, bike racks, water bubblers, street benches and trash receptacles as well as new street resurfacing and the addition of new sidewalks. CARTA is also designing new bus shelters for these blocks. Work was completed in May 2003.
