The Chattanooga Visitors Center at River Place is part of a two-story, 38,000 square foot mixed-use facility located adjacent to the Tennessee Aquarium in Ross's Landing Plaza. The architecture is reminiscent of Chattanooga's railroad history and celebrates an historic downtown bridge. The Visitors Center occupies the second floor and is operated by the Convention and Visitors Bureau.
The first floor offers a variety of restaurant and retail tenants and an Aquarium ticketing office. The facility was opened in July 1993.The Visitors Center welcomes approximately 500,000 visitors each year. The facility has contributed to the success of the retailers located on the ground floor. For example, T.G.I Fridays expanded its facility within the first year of operation and the restaurant remains one of the chains most successful, high volume locations.
