The renovation of the Hamilton County Courthouse began in July 2002 and consists of replacing the roof of the building, waterproofing the exterior and foundation, installing attic sprinklers, handrails, a fire pump and an irrigation system.  This phase of work was completed in April 2004. The second phase of work included an overhaul of the heating and air conditioning systems, improvements to the fire and smoke alarm systems, new electrical infrastructure and makeovers for the Circuit and Chancery Court courtrooms and was completed in 2005.
