A SUCCESS STORY
The RiverCity Company is a private, non-profit company chartered in 1986 to assist city and county governments and the private sector to spur economic development and the creation of great public spaces in downtown Chattanooga and along the riverfront.
Projects undertaken to date run the gamut from purchasing key downtown properties for future redevelopment; creating great new public spaces like the Riverwalk, Ross's Landing Plaza and Coolidge Park; managing the planning, design and construction of the 21st Century Waterfront Plan; and promoting downtown living by encouraging new downtown housing, restaurants and retail.
During the past 19 years, partnerships between RiverCity, local governments and the private sector have greatly improved the quality of life in Chattanooga and Hamilton County. The wide range of development activity showcased under the current and completed projects has had a remarkable positive impact locally and has vaulted Chattanooga into the national spotlight. Few communities, of any size, match this short-term success. |
